Rotary Lobe Pump Used In Mbr Membrane Process Considerations

At present, municipal wastewater plants as well as water plants are gradually adopting lobe pumps for the MBR membrane treatment process, but the following points should be noted in the process of use.

1、It is best to make the pump with media inside when self-priming

If self-priming is required for use, it is advisable to keep the medium inside the pump to allow a better seal between the rotor and the pump casing in order to produce a vacuum more effectively, in which case it is advisable to use the gooseneck flange from OGON.

2、The inlet pipe diameter cannot be too large and the inlet pipe length cannot be too long

In the case of self-priming, do not use too large a pipe diameter for the inlet section and try to keep the length of the pipe as long as possible to avoid too much air at the inlet end and increase the dry running time of the rotary lobe pump.

3、The rotary lobe pump system should preferably use automatic control

Manual control of rotary lobe pumps exposes the rotary lobe pump system to the risk of human error, e.g. starting the pump without opening the valves before and after the pump, low levels in front of the pump but not shutting it off. It is therefore preferable to use sensors to control the pump system automatically.

4、Avoid long dry run of the rotary lobe pump

It is best to use a thermal probe to avoid excessive temperatures in the body of the rotary lobe pump.

5. Add a small amount of water to avoid dry running

rotary lobe pumps are shipped with a small connection on the flange which, if a small flow of flushing water can be introduced, will minimise the risk of the system running dry.

6, try to avoid the accumulation of gas in the pipeline, so as not to backwash the gas into the membrane components, set the exhaust valve or exhaust system.
