Biogas, as a clean fuel with high combustion value, has good economic and environmental benefits in China. It is mainly based on straw, livestock manure, urban and rural waste and mixed raw materials as substrates. For the characteristics of the raw materials in biogas production, lobe pumps can be very good at conveying fluid media containing particles and high viscosity.
The lobe pump is a self-priming, positive displacement pump, consisting of a stationary pump casing and a rotating rotor, which has no suction or discharge valve and relies on the rotor in the pump body to act directly on the liquid in the form of static pressure and to discharge the liquid through the squeezing action of the rotor.
The pump is of cantilevered design with the gear unit mounted in a monolithic cast and machined sealed housing with high safety factor timing gears and large roller bearings designed for heavy duty transmission capability. Between the gear chamber and the pump chamber is an intermediate isolation chamber. The unique intermediate isolation chamber design is standard on lobe pumps and separates the pump chamber from the gear chamber. The intermediate isolation chamber is filled with lubricating oil and serves to lubricate and cool the mechanical seal. The non-collectorised single mechanical seal has been proven to offer lower maintenance costs. The pump casing is lined with a wear resistant liner to protect the pump casing from wear.
In addition, the lobe pump can be maintained in-line, making it easy to replace all parts in contact with the media on site without moving any drives or pipework.
