What is an inverter motor

Inverter motor is a generic term for a motor driven by an inverter. An inverter motor is a motor that operates continuously at 100% of the rated load at 10% to 100% of the rated speed range under standard ambient conditions, without the temperature rise exceeding the nominal tolerance of that motor. Inverter motors are also called three-phase inverter motors or three-phase asynchronous motors.

Difference between inverter motors and ordinary motors

For ordinary asynchronous motors, the main performance parameters considered in the design are overload capacity, starting performance, efficiency and power factor; whereas for inverter motors, as the critical turndown rate is inversely proportional to the power supply frequency, they can be started directly when the critical turndown rate is close to 1, so the overload capacity and starting performance do not need much consideration. 1、Different torques

The speed and torque of an inverter motor can be controlled. Normal motors have a fixed speed and torque.

2、Heat dissipation system is different

The same wire is used for the cooling fan and the fan movement in ordinary motors, whereas in inverter motors these two are separate. So when the ordinary fan is inverted too low, it may burn out due to overheating.

3、Different insulation levels

Inverter motors are subject to higher insulation levels than ordinary motors because they have to withstand high frequency magnetic fields. Inverter motors have enhanced slot insulation: the insulation material is strengthened and the thickness of the slot insulation is increased to improve the level of withstanding high frequency voltages.

4、The electromagnetic load is not the same

The working point of ordinary motors is basically at the magnetic saturation inflection point, if used for frequency conversion, it is easy to saturate and produce higher excitation currents, while the inverter motor is designed to increase the electromagnetic load so that the magnetic circuit is not easy to saturate. Another thing is that inverter motors are generally divided into special motors with constant torque, special motors with speed measurement devices for vector control with feedback and medium frequency motors.

5、Mechanical strength is not the same

Frequency conversion motor can be in its speed range can be arbitrary speed adjustment, and the motor will not be damaged, most of the general domestic ordinary motor can only run under the conditions of AC380V/50HZ, ordinary motor can reduce the frequency or increase the frequency of use, but the range can not be too large, otherwise the motor will be hot or even burned.
